Boozy, brassy Apple Annie, is a beggar with a basket of apples. Bootlegger Dave the Dude is a sucker for her apples --- he thinks they bring him luck. Annie's daughter Louise, who has lived all her life in a Spanish convent - and who thinks her mother is actually a Manhattan socialite - is coming to America with her fiance' and his father - a Count - to meet Annie before they marry. Annie is in a jam and only Dave, his girlfriend Queenie and their Runyonesque cronies can help. They need a lot more than luck to turn Annie into a lady and convince the Count and his son that they are hobnobbing with New York's elite. They need a - Pocketful of Miracles
